Queenswood United Church is a friendly church family, sharing God’s presence in Orléans, near Ottawa.  In spite of the pandemic, we remain an active community of faith, striving to do God’s will in the world and to care for our community and our precious church family.  We extend to you our prayers for your well-being during this difficult time, and invite you to discover our church community by reading our Mission and Community Statement, and exploring our website.

Beginning Sunday March 20, 2022, QUC returns to in-person worship, weekly at 10 am.

If you cannot be with us in person, please join us via our live streamed services on YouTube, available HERE  Past services will be found through the same link, if you cannot join us live at 10 am.

QUC’s covid protocols are now aligned with Province of Ontario requirements.  Proof of vaccination is no longer needed to attend worship, capacity limits are no longer in effect at the chapel, and masks will no longer be mandatory as of March 21, 2022.

As a loving community in Christ, we are very cognizant of the fact that the pandemic has had a significant effect on our congregation and community, and that all pandemic journeys have not been the same.  QUC will continue to be respectful of differences in individual comfort levels, and will do our best to accommodate those who are not yet ready to return to “normal” ways.  We ask that all those who come to the chapel, for whatever reason, act with kindness and compassion toward their brothers and sisters.  Please self-screen before entering the building, and, if you are not feeling well, please consider all those with whom you will interact when determining whether you should attend activities.

Welcome Rev. Laurelle Callaghan! Laurelle has grown familiar to many of us at QUC over the past year, known for her volunteer ministry and spiritual work in our congregation, her leadership of the Religious Studies group, and her thoughtful contributions to CNN. *It is now official! * We are so happy and blessed to welcome Rev. Laurelle as our newly-appointed one quarter time minister! Her main duties are worship-related, but she will also provide a ministry of presence and leadership for us. Given the restrictions on Rev. Laurelle’s hours, individual pastoral care will continue to be provided by Revs. Hilary and Robert Merritt.

As of Thursday, March 10th, the Quilt & Craft group is once again meeting at the chapel.  All crafters are welcome to join the group at 10 am and stay for the day, or to drop in at any time for as long as you want. Bring your knitting, your handwork or just come for a bit of advice, conversation, or coffee.  Distancing is observed, and fellowship is low-key and comfortable.

QUC Groups and Committees

QUC Groups and Committees continue to function despite the uncertainties and upheaval of the past two years. Outreach has remained active in helping to support those in need, and has led congregational participation in support of Centre 507, the OCCRC, KIVA, and other  groups locally and abroad. Our Community Garden continued to send fresh produce to the Orleans Cumberland Community Resource Centre Food Bank during the 2020 and 2021 growing seasons, with plans for the same in 2022. Members of QUC choir recorded anthems outdoors for inclusion in online worship services, and the Men’s Club continues their social and fundraising activities. Please email or phone the church office for more information on any of our groups and activities.
